HOST/HOSTESS (PART TIME)

Location: Carnegie Museum of Art – 4400 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213

About the role

Responsible for seating guests in the dining room. Handles customer service situations as they arise and helps create an overall enjoyable dining experience. Promotes a safe, clean, and neat environment for guests and associates.

Responsibilities

• Promptly and warmly greet and direct guests to their tables based on availability or desired seating arrangements.
• Exhibit exceptional communication skills, flexibility, and patience; demonstrate an interest in people.
• Maintain a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information shared.
• Supervise food-service associates in the dining room to ensure proper customer service, food handling, and sanitation procedures are followed.
• Help train new food-service team members.
• Supervise the closing of the assigned dining room; ensure side work and station setup are properly completed.
• Demonstrate knowledge of emergency safety procedures and help evacuate guests to safety in the event of fire or other emergencies.
• Assist with service, including occasional bussing and food service, while maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards.
• Operate equipment, including but not limited to fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines.
• Work with staff of other departments to perform job duties during special events or functions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Previous restaurant experience is preferred (willing to train).

Pay

$2.83 to $10.00 per hour.

Schedule
