About the Role

The Hospitality Associate/Wine Educator assists with the daily operations of the Tasting Room and associated Hospitality and Wine Education events, ensuring all wine tasting experiences and tours are executed smoothly while providing high-quality guest experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Greet VIP tour groups, Cellar Club members, and other visitors
  • Provide information about Breaux Vineyards and its products
  • Conduct tours of the production facility and vineyard on foot
  • Present and pour wines at the winery, special events, and offsite tastings
  • Conduct wine tasting experiences and tours for small to very large groups
  • Provide coverage on weekends, tours, offsite tastings, and special events
  • Assist in the setup, execution, and breakdown of special events
  • Support educational programs and projects as needed
  • Conduct regular wine inventories and maintain appropriate supply levels
  • Stock wines and merchandise as needed
  • Perform light housekeeping duties (clean glassware, remove trash/recycling, sweep floors, maintain kitchen and bathroom cleanliness)
  • Maintain compliance with Virginia ABC laws and uphold company policies
  • Participate in staff meetings and training
  • Handle routine sales on the Point of Sale system (cash, check, credit, gift cards, discounts)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred (not required)
  • Two or more years of experience in winery, hospitality, or related field preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Enthusiasm for wine, particularly Virginia wines and Breaux Vineyards products
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license with a clean DMV record
  • Ability to move between facilities on the estate during a shift
  • Mobility to conduct tours of the winery and grounds on foot
  • Relaxed, friendly, and professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills preferred
  • Wine Education Certification (e.g., WSET, CSW) is a bonus
  • TIPS certification required (training provided)
  • Commitment to excellence in customer service and public interaction
  • Strong problem-solving skills and flexibility to manage changing priorities
  • Knowledge of wines and wine production is highly desired
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to verify patron identification to confirm age (21+)
  • Ability to lift at least 45 pounds (case of wine)
  • Ability to stand for long periods (8+ hours per day)
  • Specific vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Schedule

  • Weekends and some holidays
  • Long and irregular hours during peak seasons and special events
