Hospitalist - Rounder - Internal Medicine (2026-0918)
About the role
Hospitalist (Rounder) – Internal Medicine – Full‑Time at Valley Medical Center & Clinics (VMCC) in Renton, WA. The position provides inpatient clinical services for patients admitted through the emergency department or by other physicians, offers consultative services to other specialties, supports primary code captains during Code Blues, and participates in the Rapid Response Team and rotating Triage role. You will work within a team of 41 hospitalists (26 rounders, 6 admitters, 8 nocturnists, and 1 APP) with 12 rounding hospitalists on service each day.
Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient clinical care for admitted patients, including rounding and discharge planning.
- Admit patients as needed and manage ongoing hospitalist patient care.
- Deliver consultative services to other hospital specialties.
- Support primary code captains (residents) during Code Blue events.
- Collaborate with intensivists in an open ICU model, serving as a consultant.
- Respond to Rapid Response Team and Code Blue activations for hospitalist patients.
- Participate in the rotating Triage role as requested by the attending hospitalist.
Qualifications
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
- Ability to obtain a Washington State medical license and DEA registration with full prescriptive authority.
Compensation
Base salary $380,000 per year ($2,261.90 per 12‑hour shift) plus up to $10,000 in incentives and opportunities for extra shifts.
Schedule
12‑hour shifts from 7 am to 7 pm, working a 7‑on/7‑off rotation for a total of 168 shifts per year.
