The Department of Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is comprised of approximately 150 paid and more than 300 volunteer faculty members organized into 11 divisions covering the major medical subspecialties. About the Role

The Hospitalist Rounder will primarily manage admitted patients to the hospitalist medicine service in close collaboration with consultants and subspecialists who practice at RWJUH. They will work on a well-established, multidisciplinary team to partner with consultants and specialists to medically manage and coordinate inpatient care, assist with transitions of care back to the ambulatory setting, and work closely with medical and surgical oncologic support staff, including advanced practice providers.

Responsibilities

• Manage admitted patients to the hospitalist medicine service in close collaboration with consultants and subspecialists.
• Partner with consultants and specialists to medically manage and coordinate inpatient care.
• Aid in transitions of care back to the ambulatory setting.
• Work closely with medical and surgical oncologic support staff, including advanced practice providers.
• Support a team-based approach, communicating with case managers, social workers, bed managers, and others to ensure appropriate patient-centered transitions of care.
• Collaborate with the case management, social work, bed management, and pharmacy teams to assist in patient and family communications and care planning.

Requirements

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Current New Jersey Medical Licensure.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited internal medicine residency program.
• Experience in hospital medicine preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
