About the role

This position performs reception and clerical functions for the nursing station, coordinates patient care activities with other departments, and arranges transport services for patients.

Department Overview

The Trauma Nursing Unit (TNU) is a 36-bed unit specializing in the care of patients with traumatic injuries and burns. It also provides comprehensive medical-surgical telemetry care for various specialties including Medicine, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Palliative, and Hospice. The unit emphasizes primary nursing and interdisciplinary teamwork to manage complex physical and psychosocial aspects of healing and promote optimal outcomes.

Work Environment

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco-free campus effective January 1, 2014. Must be able to work occasional overtime to cover staffing shortages. Must be able to work day, evening, or night shift as required. Must be able to work in an area where smoking is prohibited. Must be able to float to different units as needed. Must be able to work in a classification which is included in a collective bargaining unit (union). Must be able to wear a uniform jacket, and scrubs in required areas.
