Hospital Union Service Coordinator III

About the role

The Hospital Unit Service Coordinator (HUSC), under direction of the Patient Care Unit Manager, Nursing Supervisor or Charge Nurse, functions as the focal communications source within the patient care unit and performs administrative functions directed toward positive patient care outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Functions as the focal communications source within the patient care unit
• Performs administrative functions directed toward positive patient care outcomes
• Facilitates and enhances communication with patient care team members, physicians, other disciplines, and the public
• Fosters a harmonious work environment in which high quality patient care and customer service is consistently provided
• Promotes a cooperative working relationship with others by displaying honesty and respect, sensitivity to cultural differences, and professional feedback

Requirements

• Experience in a health care setting
• Previous database/data entry experience
• Medical Terminology knowledge
• Excellent interpersonal/communication skills to effectively interact with a diverse professional and patient population
• Willingness to be taught/learn new skills
• Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
• Demonstrated customer service skills/experience
• Basic computer skills
• The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations

Qualifications

• Preferred Qualifications: Unit Clerk experience, Ability to use office equipment

About The Team

The Burn Inpatient unit and Outpatient clinic at St. Francis provide care for patients undergoing intensive burn care, patients requiring complex medical management, as well as follow up management of burn care.
