About the Role
The pharmacist monitors drug therapy to optimize patient outcomes, provides direct care to patients of all ages, consults and provides information to physicians, nurses, and other health care workers, performs procedures to assure the quality of service, supervises technicians, and dispenses and compounds medications ordered by the physician.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals through their proper storage, handling, evaluation, preparation, compounding, labeling, and dispensing.
- Maintain proper records, documentation, and provide complete communication as appropriate.
- Follow department guidelines with regard to clinical interventions and provide drug information as required and/or requested.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and maintain efficient workflow in the area they are working in.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in Pharmacy; PharmD preferred.
- Connecticut pharmacist license.
- Hospital experience and/or Residency preferred.
