About the role
This position is responsible for receiving, selecting, packaging, and arranging delivery for blood components. You will maintain a high level of customer service, ensuring that every effort is made to meet the needs of both internal and external customers with friendliness, understanding, empathy, fairness, and by providing options and alternatives.
Responsibilities
- Accurately receive, record, and verify customer orders; suggest substitute short-dated components when possible.
- Accurately fill and pack orders for blood components.
- Conduct daily deliveries and hospital pick-ups.
- Adhere to established procedures for processing component returns.
- Maintain proper inventory control methods following current Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Update component products into systems during delivery returns.
- Organize blood products by expiration dates and follow SOP to discard expired products.
- Maintain set ranges for outdated RBCs/Apheresis components and contract/Adhoc units.
- Report questionable blood products or anomalies to a laboratory supervisor or designee.
- Contact hospitals and other centers to maximize utilization of available inventory.
- Respond appropriately to all alarms.
- Perform irradiation of blood components.
- Manage nonconforming or unsuitable products (e.g., recalls, quarantine, unsuitable returns) according to applicable procedures.
- Pack research customer orders as required.
- Process, pack, and ship recovered plasma.
- Coordinate hospital sample retrieval across all shifts.
- Accept, select, pack, and ship units for antigen-negative orders in the absence of IRL staff.
- Answer phones, accept customer orders, make adjustments, and notify customers of any changes.
- Perform vehicle maintenance tasks, including oil changes and car washes.
- Coordinate shipments and product receipt via FedEx and other freight transport.
- Receive samples and deliveries for other departments via external entryway.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (required).
- Valid Driver’s License with no moving traffic violations within the last 3 years (required).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in quality management, inventory management, or customer service.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM.
- Rotating weekends with flexible start times between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, based on operational needs:
- 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
- 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Pay
$20/hour.
