HOSPITAL POLICE OFFICER REGISTRY - (2:45pm - 10:45pm)

Location: John H. Stroger Hospital | Department: Security | Shift: 2:45 p.m. – 10:45 p.m. | Part-time registry position (up to 18 hours per week).

About the Role

The Hospital Police Officer Registry protects and ensures the safety of Cook County Health (CCH) employees, patients, and visitors to the hospital and its adjacent campus and grounds.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned areas.
• Monitors crowds and traffic.
• Responds to incidents as they occur.
• Completes incident and other reports as required.
• Liaises with other law enforcement agencies regarding crime conditions at CCH.
• Maintains compliance with various annual certification requirements.
• Works up to 9 hours per day but no more than 18 hours per week.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Certified Police Officer with prior experience.
• Valid Illinois Driver’s License (must provide at time of interview).
• Valid Firearm Owner's Identification (FOID) card issued by the State of Illinois (must provide original at time of interview).
• No felony or misdemeanor convictions.

Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of procedures relating to emergency and natural disaster situations.
• Understanding of applicable local, state, and federal statutes and ordinances.
• Ability to follow orders and function within CCH guidelines, rules, and regulations.
• Sound judgment in law enforcement situations.
• Ability to chronicle events and record information accurately.

Veteran Preference

Preference is given to honorably discharged Veterans who served at least 6 continuous months in the U.S. Armed Forces. To qualify, Veterans must:

• Identify as a Veteran on the employment application.
• Attach a copy of their DD 214, DD 215, or NGB 22 (or certified Coast Guard separation papers) at the time of application. The latest document must show an Honorable Discharge status.
• Alternatively, attach a valid State ID or Driver’s License identifying the holder as a Veteran.
• Provide original discharge papers or applicable ID at the time of interview.

Degrees awarded outside the U.S. (except those from U.S. territories or Canada) must be credentialed by an approved U.S. evaluation service (NACES or AICE). Original credentialing documents must be presented at the time of interview.
