HOSPITAL POLICE OFFICER REGISTRY - (10:45pm - 6:45am)

About the role
The Hospital Police Officer Registry will protect and ensure the safety of Cook County Health (CCH) employees, patients, and visitors to the hospital and its adjacent campus and grounds. This is a part-time registry position with an opportunity to work no more than eighteen hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Protects and ensures the safety of hospital employees, patients, and visitors to the hospital and its adjacent campus and grounds.
- Patrols assigned areas.
- Monitors crowds and traffic.
- Responds to incidents as they occur.
- Completes incident and other reports, as required.
- Liaises with other law enforcement agencies regarding crime conditions at CCH.
- Maintains completed status for various annual certification requirements.
- Must be able to work up to 9 hours per day but no more than 18 hours per week.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Certified Police Officer.
- Prior experience as a Certified Police Officer.
- Must possess a valid Illinois Driver’s License (must provide license at time of interview).
- Must possess a valid Firearm Owner's Identification (FOID) card issued by the State of Illinois (must provide original card at time of interview).
- Must not have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor offense.
Skills
- Knowledge and familiarity to execute procedures relating to emergency and natural disaster situations.
- Knowledge and understanding of applicable local, state, and federal statutes and ordinances.
- Ability to understand and obey orders and function within the guidelines, rules, and regulations governing Cook County Health.
- Must possess the ability to make sound judgments relating to law enforcement situations.
- Ability to chronicle events and record information accurately.
Veteran Preference
Preference is given to honorably discharged Veterans who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States for not less than 6 months of continuous service. To take advantage of this preference, a Veteran must:
- Meet the minimum qualifications for the position.
- Identify as a Veteran on the employment application.
- Attach a copy of their DD 214, DD 215, or NGB 22 (Notice of Separation) at the time of application filing. If multiple documents exist, submit the one with the latest date. Coast Guard must submit a certified copy of military separation from either the Department of Transportation (before 9/11) or the Department of Homeland Security (after 9/11). Discharge papers must list an Honorable Discharge Status.
- A copy of a valid State ID Card or Driver’s License identifying the holder as a Veteran may also be attached.
- Veterans must provide original applicable discharge papers or applicable State ID Card or Driver’s License at the time of interview.
Degrees awarded outside of the United States (except those awarded in U.S. territories and Canada) must be credentialed by an approved U.S. credential evaluation service belonging to the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE). Original credentialing documents must be presented at the time of interview.
