About the Role

University of Kentucky HealthCare (UKHC) is seeking a full-time chaplain to provide direct patient care, spiritual assessments, and interfaith pastoral support. The chaplain will prioritize pastoral care needs, provide sacraments or make provisions for them, and address diverse spiritual requirements. Additional responsibilities include preparing and conducting memorial or worship services sensitive to the interfaith community and offering educational opportunities for healthcare team members.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and spiritual assessments
• Prioritize pastoral care needs and address interfaith requirements
• Provide sacraments or make provisions for such
• Prepare and conduct memorial or worship services for an interfaith community
• Support and educate healthcare team members
• Maintain records and files related to pastoral care

Requirements

• Master of Divinity (MDiv) or Master of Theology (MTH)
• One year of related experience
• Board Certified or eligible for certification through the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), or Neshama: Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC)
• Endorsement by a religious body as a chaplain
• Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education from an ACPE-accredited training center (preferred)

Skills & Knowledge

• General understanding of basic skills (reading, writing, and math)
• Knowledge of record-keeping and general office work
• Interpersonal skills and professional healthcare knowledge
• Supervisory responsibilities

Physical Requirements

• Handling light-weight objects up to 20 pounds
• Standing, walking, and sitting for long periods of time

Pay

$48,360–$81,328 per year

Schedule

• Tuesday–Friday: 1:00 PM–9:30 PM
• Saturday: 3:45 PM–12:15 AM
• Evenings, nights, weekends, and some holidays as needed
