Hospital Chaplain
Job Summary
To provide compassionate religious/spiritual support to employees, students, patients, and patient family members. To counsel individuals seeking guidance and assistance. Education & Experience
- Masters of Divinity from an accredited association of Theological School, and 4 units of clinical pastoral education.
- One (1) year of experience as a chaplain in a hospital setting preferred.
Education & Experience may not be substituted for educational requirement. Ecclesiastical endorsement required.
Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required:
- Certified or eligible for Chaplaincy Certification.
- Must obtain certification within two years of hire.
- Occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours

Responsibilities
Provides counseling and other spiritual education activities for employees, students, and patients.
Supports the end-of-life care for patients by offering pastoral support and counseling to patients and families.
Administers religious rites or ordinances; prepares and delivers spiritual care services.
Studies, interprets, and teaches religious laws, doctrines, and/or traditions.
Promotes ethical behavior within UMMC and provides consultation on ethical behavior.
Documents spiritual counseling for patients.
Performs other duties as assigned.
