Responsibilities
- Analyze and explore means of reducing operating costs and increasing revenues based on market trends, financial reports, and operating procedures.
- Direct the preparation of internal financial reports, ensuring they accurately reflect the financial position of the hospital.
- Timely submission of all financial data required by government and other regulated agencies.
- Identify and report undesirable trends and potential business opportunities, making recommendations for action.
- Aid in the development of long and short-range operations plans, including service demand analyses, resource availability analyses, productivity, and cost benefit analyses of proposed capital and staff expansions.
- Develop long and short-range operational and capital budgets aligned with the hospital's long and short-range plans and objectives.
- Prepare statistical reports, budgets, and financial reports.
- Administer the general accounting, revenue cycle, financial, and statistical reporting functions of the hospital according to established policies and accounting procedures.
- Provide informal direction in a matrix management environment.
- Maintain performance to ensure fiscal responsibilities are fulfilled.
- Forecast the impact of business decisions on financial results.
- Monitor financial and economic information to identify trends and indicators impacting business operations, planning, investments, etc.
- Communicate financial operational performance with all stakeholders, including senior administration, appropriate facility staff members, and system finance leaders.
- Review revenue cycle issues and trends to maximize net reimbursement for the facility.
- Review contracts, purchase agreements, and other financial arrangements to ensure compatibility with business goals and expectations regarding profitability and stewardship.
- Participate in Bon Secours Mercy Health projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree – Business, Accounting, or Finance or related field.
- 3-5 years financial leadership experience with significant time in a healthcare setting.
- PREFERRED: MBA or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Healthcare Administration.
- CPA.
