An opportunity has arisen for an individual to join our health team at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, providing advice, information, and guidance to adults who care for others who can’t manage without their help—Carers.

About the role

Our Hospital Carer Liaison Workers operate at both the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI) and Southmead Hospitals, supporting carers when the person they care for is admitted. The role ensures the carer’s voice is heard and their needs are met, including during discharge planning. You will work closely with clinical, nursing, and multidisciplinary teams across departments.

Additionally, you will collaborate with hospital staff to enhance their understanding and support of carers through development work and training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide information, advice, and guidance to carers.
  • Offer support and advocacy to individuals requiring emotional and practical assistance.
  • Liaise with clinical, nursing, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure carers' needs are addressed.
  • Engage in development work and training to improve hospital staff’s knowledge of supporting carers.
  • Work in partnership with other organizations.
  • Manage an independent caseload.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in information and advice work, including support and advocacy.
  • Experience working with individuals needing emotional and practical support.
  • Experience working in or with a health or social care environment.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload.
