Position Overview
Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center We are seeking board-certified/board-eligible OB/GYN physicians to provide on-site, shift-based GYN hospital coverage in 12- or 24-hour blocks. The physician will have primary responsibility for GYN, including inpatient and emergency gynecology consultations, rounding, operative management, and post-operative care. In addition, the physician will serve as backup OB coverage for the OB laborist when additional physician support is needed on Labor & Delivery. This role requires a highly collaborative physician who is comfortable working as part of a team with other Laborists, OB/GYN residents, nursing, anesthesia, and other hospital-based clinicians.
Core Responsibilities
- Primary Gynecology Coverage
- Evaluate and manage inpatient and emergency gynecology consultations
- Provide daily inpatient and post-operative rounding, discharge planning, and appropriate handoffs
- Coordinate care with the patient’s primary OB/GYN or community physician when applicable
- Gynecologic Surgical Care
- Evaluate and perform urgent/emergent GYN procedures as clinically indicated, including:
- Dilation & curettage (D&C)
- Laparoscopy, including management of ectopic pregnancy, ovarian torsion, and ovarian cysts
- Management of gynecologic hemorrhage
- Hysterectomy and other urgent gynecologic surgery
- Work closely with anesthesia, operating room teams, nursing, and residents to ensure timely and coordinated surgical care
- Labor & Delivery Backup Coverage
- Work alongside the on-site OB hospitalist (laborist) and serve as backup OB physician coverage during the assigned shift
- Provide additional physician support for Labor & Delivery when clinical volume, acuity, or simultaneous emergencies require a second OB/GYN
- Assist with operative and high-acuity obstetric cases when needed, including cesarean delivery and cesarean hysterectomy
- Support safe escalation and continuity of care while maintaining primary responsibility for gynecology coverage
- Resident & Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with OB/GYN residents and support an effective teaching and team-based clinical environment
- Maintain clear communication and shared situational awareness with the laborist throughout the shift
- Partner with nursing, anesthesia, emergency department, and other hospital teams to provide coordinated care
- Demonstrate a collegial, team-first approach across both gynecology and obstetric coverage responsibilities
Schedule & Coverage Model
- On-site, hospital-based shift coverage
- 12- or 24-hour shifts
- Physician mirrors the OB Laborist coverage model on the Labor & Delivery floor
- Primary responsibility for gynecology with secondary/backup responsibility for obstetrics
- No routine outpatient clinic responsibilities
- Opportunity to work closely with OB/GYN residents
- Minimum Required Shifts per month – 10 shifts per month
Compensation Structure
- Shift-Based
- Signing Bonus – Offered
- Total Annual Comp including Bonuses and PTO: $335,000 assuming 12 shifts per month
- Sunrise Base Shift Rate: Day Shift - $2,000, Night Shift - $2,090
- Average Shift Rate including Bonuses and PTO: Dayshift - $2,200 -$2,400, Nightshift - $2,290 -$2490

- Malpractice coverage included (claims-made), with tail coverage provided after 2nd year anniversary
Qualifications
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology
- Active or eligible for Nevada medical license
- Demonstrated competency in urgent and emergent gynecologic surgery
- Current obstetric competency and comfort providing backup coverage on Labor & Delivery
- Ability to manage hospital-based gynecology independently while functioning collaboratively within an OB/GYN team
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach to working with laborists, residents, nursing, and hospital staff
Preferred Experience
- Prior hospital-based, OB or GYN hospitalist/laborist, or academic OB/GYN experience
- Experience managing urgent and emergent surgical GYN cases
- Experience working with OB/GYN residents
- Comfort with rapid operative decision-making and high-acuity obstetric and gynecologic care
