Hospital Assistant

About the role

The Hospital Assistant III supports the delivery of care to patients in the Ambulatory Services department, adhering to policies and procedures. They assist in patient care procedures, front and back office responsibilities, and provide support to multiple physicians.

Responsibilities

• Maintains patient flow and monitors clinic operations.
• Obtains patient vital signs, height, weight, pain screening, and documents chief complaints.
• Prepares for exams and equipment, and assists with procedures.
• Performs in-basket functions related to patient messages, labs, authorizations, and other tasks.
• Acts as a chaperone and communicates with providers and referring physicians.
• Completes referrals, obtains authorizations, and assists with patient communication.
• Maintains clean, well-stocked exam rooms and orders supplies.

Qualifications

• Certification from an approved Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience.
• Current American Heart Association CPR certification.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in a busy health care environment.
• Familiarity with insurance verification and authorizations.
• Strong computer skills, including keyboarding and experience with Word and Excel.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Strong writing skills for composing office communications.
