Position Summary

The Hospital Administrator provides executive leadership for all hospital departments and services. This role is responsible for operational performance, budget management, regulatory compliance, patient satisfaction, employee engagement, and business development initiatives. The Administrator works closely with department leaders, physicians, corporate leadership, and the Governing Body to ensure the hospital achieves its mission, strategic goals, and quality outcomes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee daily hospital operations and departmental performance.

  • Lead and develop department directors and management staff.

  • Establish operational goals, strategic initiatives, and performance expectations.

  • Ensure hospital services are delivered efficiently, effectively, and in compliance with applicable regulations.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, patient safety, and service excellence.

  • Participate in the hospital Administrator on-call rotation.

  • Ensure compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, State Licensure, OSHA, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements.

  • Oversee Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities.

  • Promote patient safety initiatives and continuous quality improvement efforts.

  • Monitor survey readiness and coordinate corrective action plans as needed.

  • Ensure all departments maintain regulatory compliance and accreditation standards.

  • Develop, manage, and monitor operating and capital budgets.

  • Review financial reports, payroll, productivity, census, revenue, and expense metrics.

  • Ensure responsible fiscal management and achievement of organizational goals.

  • Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost containment while maintaining quality patient care.

  • Partner with department leaders to recruit, retain, and develop high-performing teams.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and mentoring to leadership staff.

  • Support employee engagement, professional development, and succession planning.

  • Ensure staff receive required education, competencies, and regulatory training.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with referral sources, community partners, physicians, and stakeholders.

  • Participate in marketing and business development efforts to support census growth.

  • Represent the hospital within the community and professional organizations.

  • Promote the hospital's mission, vision, and values through positive leadership and community engagement.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or related field required. Master's Degree preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of progressive healthcare leadership experience. Behavioral health hospital leadership experience strongly preferred. Experience managing hospital operations, regulatory compliance, budgeting, and department leadership. Demonstrated success in improving operational, financial, and quality outcomes.

  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of behavioral health operations and healthcare regulations. Financial management and budgeting expertise. Strategic planning and performance improvement experience. Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive organizational change. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Proficiency with healthcare information systems and Microsoft Office applications.
