About the role

McLeod Health is seeking a Hospice Technician – PRN (As Needed) – Night Shift to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
  • Recognizes the normal signs (growth and development of aging).
  • Initiates and maintains the hygiene/cleanliness of the patients, the patient's environment, and the unit environment.
  • Promotes comfort and safety of patients and visitors.
  • Performs or assists with performing nutritional/hydration interventions (feeding, providing fluids, snacks).
  • Communicates appropriate patient data to members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Collects and records patient related data through the performance of direct care tasks.
  • Contributes to the daily efficiency of the department.
  • Demonstrates professional growth.
  • Follows completely all policies and regulations regarding safety.
  • Provides an environment that demonstrates caring, compassion and respect for all patients, families, and visitors.
  • Represents Hospice to patients, families and team members in a positive, professional manner.
  • Performs general transportation and courier duties, as well as other miscellaneous cross-training tasks (such as unit secretarial duties, etc.) as directed and as assigned.
  • Performs treatments, special procedures or other special functions within the scope of his/her training and in accordance with hospital policy after additional education and completion of a specific check-off by a designated preceptor.
  • Consistently handles customer complaints promptly and effectively when problems encountered.
  • Consistently recognizes potential or real problems as they arise, presents workable solutions, and participates in their implementation, with a positive attitude.
  • Identifies those items stored in the supply room that are considered medications (large volume IV’s, alcohol swabs, saline, medication in prepackaged kits).
  • Demonstrates appropriate handling and storage of medications.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED from an accredited school.
  • Two years’ experience working with scheduling.

Qualifications

  • Requires experience with software programs and computer expertise.

Skills

  • Excellent customer relations.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of hospice care and patient needs.
  • Ability to handle medications safely and store them appropriately.

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
