Horticulture Specialist

Position Overview The Horticulture Specialist requires strong management skills as the individual will oversee various aspects of a large commercial business site. This is a production leadership role requiring exceptional communication skills, teamwork, and attention to detail. Benefits On-the-job training Opportunities for advancementSupport for acquiring any industry required certifications8 paid holidays and a generous PTO packageMedical, Dental, Vision, Life, AD&D and Disability insurance401(k) with Company match Employee Assistance ProgramUniforms and equipment provided Job Duties Maintain and care for interior platescapes (including deadheading, cleaning, and pest control)Maintain exterior landscape beds by weeding, watering, and leaf blowingPlant and maintain seasonal color in beds and containersBasic ornamental pruning, perennial care, and interior plant careRemove trash and debrisInstall exterior and interior seasonal holiday decorOther duties may include raking, insect control, edging, mulching, etc. Day-to-Day Stuff This specialized position works primarily inside an office setting, tending the care of interior plantsPossess thorough knowledge of Perficut’s Best Practices by leading and performing by its standardsImplement and enforce site specific and Company policies and proceduresCoordinate all materials, people and equipment required to produce a quality jobAdhere to quality and safety standardsEvaluate and report conditions that detract from the safety or aesthetic value of the propertyCommunicate effectively with supervisor and crew membersEffectively manage personnel and other resourcesEfficiently prioritize production tasks to maximize profitabilityOversee scheduling of jobs to meet deadlinesMeet deadlines and follow instructions and expectationsLead training and retention initiatives Other projects, as assigned Characteristics Needed to Succees Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record2- or 4-year degree in Landscape Horticulture or related field preferredAt least 2 years of management experiencePossess or achieve any industry required certification within 90 days of hireProfessionally represent Perficut with excellent verbal and written communication skills with peers, crew members and clientsPositive attitude and desire to make corporate sites beautifulAvailable to work outside regular business hours as needs dictateFlexibility to workplace changesAbility to think strategically and provide outside of the box solutionsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn new software and technologyRecognize and recommend opportunities for additional servicesOversee the accuracy of each crew’s paperwork, including validating hours workedIdentify and mentor key staff members for advancementPossess effective management techniques during snow events and observes appropriate balance for self and team between snow and ice management services and time off the clock for restDemonstrate ability to work effectively independently and with a teamSpecial duties for snow as assigned Physical Demands Required The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
