Horticulture Crew Leader
Job Overview
The Horticulture Crew Leader is responsible for maintaining a variety of landscape structures and assisting with installation and care of plant material.
Responsibilities
- Leading and supervising a small team in performing daily horticultural and landscaping duties, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency on every job site
- Aiding with the installation and care of woody, perennial, and annual plant material
- Performing a wide range of installation and maintenance responsibilities such as mulching, planting, grading, etc.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of proven work experience as a Crew Leader
- Ability to operate maintenance equipment including lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and hedge trimmers
- Strong knowledge of pest management and basic lawn maintenance
- High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills to oversee multiple projects
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification
- Ensuring job sites and/or maintenance properties are kept clean and tidy and free of plant debris
- Removing weeds and dead plants as needed to preserve the health and natural beauty of the plants
- Trimming overgrown limbs, hedges, and leaves to ensure an appealing look to the area
General Requirements
- High school diploma (degree in horticulture recommended)
- Relevant certificate may be required
- Minimum of 2+ years working experience
- Knowledge of tools and equipment used in landscaping
- On-the-job training as a landscape crew member
- Experience in a leadership role would be advantageous
- Ability to provide clear written and verbal instructions
