Horticultural Maintenance Worker

Duties And Responsibilities

• Weeding, pruning, and watering
• Planting and mulching
• Raking, shoveling, and sweeping
• Performs daily maintenance of tools and equipment utilized
• Additional Expectations

Qualifications And Requirements

• Basic knowledge of weeding, pruning, and planting
• Basic knowledge of plant, tree, and pest identification
• Ability to work independently as well as with other staff members and follow multi-step directions
• Ability to interact respectfully with the public
• Willingness to learn new skills
• Professionalism in communication, demeanor and respectful relationship building at the highest level in representing the Conservancy and fostering collaborative partnerships

Physical Demands And Working Conditions

• Primarily outdoor hands-on work, potentially in extreme weather conditions
• Job duties may require an employee to bend, reach, stoop, sit, stand and/or walk for extended periods of time, as well as lift and/or move heavy objects which at times could be up to 50 lbs.
• Job duties may require traveling distances between park features or system locations
• Use of hand tools; as well as standard to heavy park and gardening equipment
• Must continuously foster a team approach to while working in the park environment
• Evenings, weekend, and holiday work may be required, as needed
• Flexible hours depending on workload and ever-changing priorities
• Must be able to adapt to ever-changing resources and limited budgets
