Hood Technician
About the Role
The Hood Technician position is responsible for cleaning grease from the cooking exhaust systems of commercial kitchens and performing supervisory functions related to crews.
Responsibilities
- Work after hours once facilities are closed, both indoors and outdoors
- Often work alone with a helper while interacting professionally with restaurant management and staff
- Perform inspections, cleaning, and maintenance of kitchen exhaust systems
- Take photos of completed work
- Drive to and from job sites and the shop
- Complete paperwork and maintain truck and equipment in working condition
- Clean kitchen exhaust systems, including fans, roofs, and filters
- Work safely with ladders and chemicals
- Arrive on time for pre-scheduled appointments
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Leadership skills and ability to motivate and provide direction (required)
- Light mechanical ability (preferred)
- Experience working with hand/power tools
- Demonstrated critical thinking and safety-forward skills
- Ability to collaborate and work with employees at all levels
- Strong diligence and accuracy
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (required)
- Ability to comply with drug and alcohol policies and background screening requirements
Skills
- Effective communication in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
Physical & Work Environment
- Frequently bend, ascend/descend ladders, kneel, lift up to 60 lbs, reach above/below shoulders, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Occasionally balance, crouch, drive, kneel, lift over 60 lbs, sit, stoop, twist, and work at heights
- Must be able to see in color, at close/far distances, peripherally, with depth perception, and adjust focus
- Regularly work outside and be exposed to hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards, and noise
- Occasionally work indoors in an office setting, alone, or with others
- Consistently wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required by company safety policies
