Homemaker (Cook & Housekeeper)

About the role

The Homemaker position at Pennybyrn involves performing both cook and housekeeper duties for 20 senior adults living in a long-term care household. Responsibilities include preparing meals, snacks, and events, as well as maintaining cleanliness and tidiness throughout the household.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve three meals and snacks daily according to custom recipes with high quality standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the kitchen, living areas, resident bedrooms, and restrooms.
• Collaborate with residents and their families to ensure a comfortable living environment.
• Work flexible hours, including weekends, with shifts available from 6:30 am - 2:00 pm or 10:30 am - 7:00 pm.

Requirements

• A Serve-Safe certification is preferred but not required.
• Experience in high-volume cooking in a professional setting is preferred.
• Previous experience in group homes, skilled nursing facilities, adult day centers, schools, homecare, or similar environments is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Prior cooking and cleaning professional experience is required.
• Knowledge and ability to work effectively with senior residents.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with residents, families, staff, and regulatory agencies.
• Ability to work collaboratively and manage conflicts.
• Flexibility to adapt to changes in schedule and routine.
• Previous experience in dining or housekeeping settings is advantageous.
• Patience, understanding, and tact in dealing with the chronically ill.

Pay

The pay rate is $13.00 - $13.50 per hour, with weekend differentials at an additional $1.00 per hour.

Schedule

Shifts are available from 6:30 am - 2:00 pm or 10:30 am - 7:00 pm, including every other weekend.
