The Salvation Army, an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church, seeks a Social Worker to provide direct case management services to homeless individuals and families. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field, with at least two years of related experience. Experience working with homeless populations and a positive attitude are essential.
Responsibilities
- Conduct outreach activities, including visits to shelters, treatment programs, and dining facilities.
- Provide direct case management services to homeless individuals and families.
- Offer supportive counseling and referrals for shelter, housing, and resources.
- Engage with, interview, and assess individuals and families for service referral.
- Utilize a community-wide data system to enter clients' information into Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS).
- Create and run reports using HMIS and other community-wide data systems.
- Attend all scheduled team meetings and trainings.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly perform tasks that require walking, standing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to operate a telephone, desktop/laptop computer, and access and produce information from a computer.
- Must have the ability to hear well enough to drive a vehicle.
- Must be able to operate a vehicle in various conditions, including darkness and remote locations.
