We are seeking an experienced Intake Coordinator to ensure patients have timely access to life-changing infusion therapies by managing insurance verification, benefits investigation, prior authorizations, and patient onboarding activities.
The Intake Coordinator is responsible for providing patient access to infusion therapies by verifying insurance eligibility, reviewing benefits, obtaining authorizations, and coordinating communication between patients, providers, nursing, pharmacy, and sales teams. This role requires a strong understanding of infusion reimbursement, medical and pharmacy benefits, prior authorizations, and patient onboarding workflows. This is not a general medical intake position; candidates must have prior experience working in a Home Infusion, Specialty Pharmacy, or Infusion Center environment.
Responsibilities
- Enter patient, physician, insurance, and authorization information into company systems
- Review incoming referrals and prescription orders
- Contact patients and providers to obtain missing information
- Conduct comprehensive benefits investigations for new referrals
- Review both medical and pharmacy benefit plans
- Obtain clinical documentation needed for prior authorization submissions
- Follow authorizations through approval and resolution
- Communicate authorization status updates to patients, providers, and internal teams
- Manage denials and assist providers with appeals and peer-to-peer review processes
- Educate patients regarding coverage and financial responsibility
