GBMC HealthCare seeks a compassionate nurse to deliver and coordinate care for terminally-ill patients and their families.
About the role
Provides quality nursing care to patients with life-limiting illness, maintains the nursing process in collaboration with the primary physician, and participates in the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement a patient-directed individualized plan of care.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient and family care needs and deliver nursing and supportive care.
- Evaluate patient/family response to interventions and modify the care plan as needed.
- Educate patients and families to promote independence and facilitate living fully until death, including infection-control protocols.
- Document all care accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record.
- Supervise Patient Care Partners, Unit Receptionists, and volunteers.
- Complete daily acuity assessments for assigned patients.
- Attend to patient and family at the time of the patient’s death.
- Participate in the Quality Improvement Program to enhance care quality.
Requirements
- ADN and/or BSN from an accredited institution.
- Two years of nursing experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current Maryland registered nursing license.
Skills
- Knowledge of universal precautions and safe infection-control practices.
- Strong time-management and interpersonal/communication skills.
- Patient- and family-focused approach.
- Proficiency or ability to learn electronic medical records (EMR).
Physical Requirements
- Standing and walking up to 90% of work time; lifting and positioning patients up to 50% of work time.
- Frequent stooping, bending, and sitting.
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail, often in stressful situations.
Working Conditions
- Normal patient-care environment with potential exposure to excessive noise, dust, and temperature variations.

Pay
Pay range: $32.18 – $49.46 per hour. Final salary offer based on candidate’s qualifications, education, experience, and organizational alignment.
