Home Assistant Supervisor
About the role
The Home Assistant Supervisor at Heartspring is responsible for supervising Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in a group home environment. This includes ensuring the consistent and quality implementation of student schedules, instructional programs, and Student Support Plans. The supervisor also manages the group home’s budget, ensures compliance with financial guidelines, and maintains records. Additionally, they engage in family engagement, quality assurance, communication, safety and health, people management, and professional responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Program Implementation: Monitor and manage the implementation of student schedules, instructional programs, and Student Support Plans under the direction of the Home Supervisor.
- Family Engagement: Communicate with parents as needed and interact appropriately with a variety of individuals with varying needs.
- Quality Assurance: Assist in implementing Quality Assurance integrity checks and ensure compliance with KDHE rules and regulations.
- Communication: Engage in clear, effective, and relevant written and verbal communication, promoting a positive atmosphere of professional development and teamwork.
- Safety and Health: Ensure the environment is safe and nurturing, intervene in crises, monitor health concerns, and report incidents.
- People Manager: Guide and develop team members to achieve individual and collective goals, fostering a supportive work environment.
- Professional Responsibility: Adhere to company policies, promote teamwork, and ensure confidentiality.
Requirements
- Knowledge and abilities in dependability, reliability, responsibility, and ethics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including interpersonal skills and effective listening techniques.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Collaborative teamwork skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Managing confidential and protected health information with integrity and professionalism.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- One-year direct care/supervisory experience, preferably in a residential environment.
- Valid Kansas driver's license with a good driving record preferred.
- CPR Certification maintained and in good standing.
Skills
- Lifting up to 30 lbs. frequently; 50 lbs. rarely.
- Carrying 10-15 lbs. frequently; 50 lbs. seldom.
- Sitting, standing, walking, climbing, bending, twisting, kneeling, reaching, pushing/pulling, dexterity, stamina/endurance, vision/hearing, mind-body connection.
- Frequent exposure to physical interactions from clients, including slapping, hitting, punching, kicking, head-butting, and biting.
- Potential exposure to infectious diseases, parasites, bodily fluids, and blood-borne pathogens.
