About the role
The Rigger position at HMG is located in Silverdale, Washington (Bangor). This is a non-exempt, full-time role with a compensation range of $38.76-$38.76 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Assemble rigging to lift and move equipment or material in manufacturing plant or shipyard
- Select wire ropes, synthetic slings, chainfalls, winches, blocks, and sheaves according to weight and size of load to be moved
- Give directions to Crane Operator or Hoisting Engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material handled, using hand signals, loudspeaker, or radio
- Rigging lift duties include maintenance on cranes, re-wiring cranes, and pouring sockets in accordance with applicable regulations
- Splices synthetic or natural fiber rope and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle
- Attach load with rigging gear such as slings, wires, ropes and chains to crane hook
- Test and certify rigging gear and equipment in accordance with applicable regulations
- Ensure equipment being used is certified, appropriate for the application, and inspected prior to use
Qualifications
- Applicable Rigger training and certificate from NCCER, NCCCO, or from approved 3rd party certification body, required
- Forklift certification required
- At least 3 years of experience in cranes
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Ability to do basic math, i.e. add, subtract, divide, and multiply
- Ability to perform metric conversions
- Understanding of rigging components such as shackles, wire rope slings, block and tackle, come-a-longs, and air tuggers, including their capacities and proper use
- Familiar with crane signals
- Knowledge of different crane operations, such as mobile cranes, bridge cranes and jib cranes
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be able to provide customer service in a professional and courteous manner

- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, crawl, reach, push, pull, and climb
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
