About the role
Tessera is seeking an experienced General Maintenance Worker lll. The GM-3 performs skilled to highly skilled work in the general maintenance and upkeep of buildings, plumbing, electrical, structural, grounds, and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for a variety of tasks, including painting, carpentry, siding repairs/replacement, glass replacement in doors and windows, minor plumbing, masonry, concrete repairs, and minor electrical work.
- Clean roof drains and gutters.
- Replace electrical receptacles and switches, fixtures, and bathroom exhaust fan motors.
- Patch minor holes and cracks in walls or ceilings using plaster or compound.
- Repair or replace sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
- Caulk plumbing kitchen fixtures.
- Communicate and interact directly with the customer and supervisors, informing the customer of unexpected or additional repairs and determining customer needs.
- Respond to customer inquiries and complaints.
- Ensure completed work meets quality control standards.
- Use portable handheld electronic devices to manage work.
- Make difficult diagnoses and suggest solutions and repairs to customers and supervisors.
- Communicate with the scheduler to update the status of repairs and estimate completion dates.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Minimum 3 years of closely related experience is required.
- Knowledge of painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work is preferred.
- The ability to learn a wide variety of building and ground maintenance is required.
- The ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time, occasionally in adverse weather conditions, is required.
Physical Requirements
- Must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance.

- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
- May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
- Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking.
- Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
- Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
Requirements
- A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
- Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act.
