Responsibilities

• Histotechnician: Performs, evaluates, records and reports histological laboratory tests used in the diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of patients on a variety of body fluids, tissues and biologic specimens. Recognizes problems and/or potential for problems within the assigned section regarding instruments, computers, and inventories. Displays sound, supportive and independent judgement to resolve issues equitably.
• Histotechnologist: Performs, evaluates, records and reports histological laboratory tests used in the diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of patients on a variety of body fluids, tissues and biologic specimens. Recognizes problems and/or potential for problems within the assigned section regarding instruments, computers, and inventories. Displays sound, supportive and independent judgement to resolve issues in the absence of a supervisor.

Qualifications

Histotechnician

• Minimum Education: Current and active license as a NYSED Certified Histotechnician OR current and active license as a NYSED Clinical Laboratory Technician
• Minimum Experience: Experience preferred but newly NYSED Certified Hist
