About the role
The position is exclusively open to individuals currently enrolled in the HT/HTL program through the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences (MCSHS).
Responsibilities
- Prepare high-quality microscopic slide preparations for pathologist review.
- Perform specimen accessioning and identification.
- Process and embed specimens.
- Execute microtomy techniques, including paraffin and frozen (cryotomy) sections.
- Carry out routine and special stains, including immunofluorescence and IHC.
- Support training and onboarding of students and new employees.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely and accurate results.
- Contribute to a respectful, inclusive, and team-oriented work environment.
- Adapt to the unique demands and workflows of different subspecialty laboratories.
Qualifications
- For HT: Associate degree required; 24 semester hours in chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology; 12 credit hours in chemistry and biology; HT certified by ASCP by start date.
- For HTL: Bachelor’s degree required; HTL certified by ASCP by start date.
