*Hiring Operating Room Technician I (entry level or experienced)*

About the role
Assists perioperative nurses and anesthesia care providers with patient care and performs delegated patient care procedures in Surgical Services. Checks and restocks supplies; moves medical equipment; may prepare equipment for use; and cleans and returns equipment to correct storage locations after use. Performs between-case/end-of-case cleaning in the procedure rooms; performs anesthesia turnovers between patients and at end of schedule; and assists in maintaining a clean, safe environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and turn over procedure rooms, including removing trash and soiled items, wiping down all equipment and supplies, and preparing the room for the next procedure.
- Move and set up equipment needed for each case.
- Stock and set up gas machines and anesthesia areas.
- Assist with patient transfer and positioning upon arrival in the room.
- Scrub in (wear sterile gown and gloves) to help prep patients for surgery, such as holding a broken leg while the RN and CST prep it.
- Assist with patient pick-up and transport, including trauma patients from ECC and open-heart patients to CVICU.
- Use and assist with specialized equipment during procedures (e.g., Hana Table for hip replacements).
- Run specimens to the lab/pathology and pick up units of blood and platelets as needed.
- Perform anesthesia turnovers between patients and at the end of the schedule.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (employees hired prior to 1/1/01 were grandfathered into this position).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous healthcare experience.
- Certification in a related healthcare field.
- Demonstrated ability to follow written/verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
Required License and Certifications
- BLS: Basic Life Support/CPR.
Pay
Hourly rate is determined by years of experience and internal equity. Minimum starting rate: $17.35. Maximum salary range: $24.20.
Schedule
Full-time, 2nd shift: Monday–Friday, 2:30 pm–11:00 pm (14:30–23:00). Training is required on 1st shift (Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–3:30 pm, 07:00–15:30) for 10–12 weeks.
