Job Summary
Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is a non-profit hospital located in Sarasota, Florida. The organization is rapidly growing with recent additions such as a new hospital in Venice, Florida, a Cancer Institute, and plans for a new hospital in North Port, Florida. This position is an addition to the existing team.
About the Role
Professionally interviews and schedules patients for outpatient services including preregistration. Coordinates patient schedules to enhance patient and physician satisfaction across the institution. Communicates patient instructions, physician orders, authorization requirements, and referrals to patients, physician office staff, and other SMHCS personnel. Ensures scheduling and pre-registration accuracy according to department standards. Creates estimates for patient financial responsibility and collects co-insurance, co-payments, and deductibles as necessary. Initiates processes to ensure patients meet hospital financial policies and guidelines for services provided and transfers to appropriate departments for complex situations.
Responsibilities

Requirements
- A minimum of one (1) year of customer service, general administrative, or healthcare experience.
- The ability to analyze problems and offer solutions.
- Effective communication skills, including handling difficult customer situations.
- General knowledge of medical insurance and terminology.
- Knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding and current CPT coding.

$18.35/hr. to $27.30/hr.
