About the role

Food and food-service delivery Drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers ensure customers’ products arrive at their destination on time and in good condition, while serving as the face of our company and building lasting customer relationships.

The CDL-A Driver is responsible for driving a tractor trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight and drive-and-drop routes to deliver and/or unload food and food-related products to customers safely, on time, and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Drivers communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, answer questions accurately, and function as a team member within the department and organization.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip), including DOT-compliant inspections of tractor/truck and trailer; report safety issues and needed repairs.
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe-driving guidelines; immediately report safety hazards.
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight; perform count checks and verify customer invoices.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
  • Move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed; ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are locked/secured at all times.
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns; complete necessary end-of-shift paperwork.
  • Unload equipment/materials and remove trash from trailers as required.
  • Comply with daily record-keeping and hours-of-service requirements per DOT, state, and company policies.
  • Uphold safety standards and proper freight-handling guidelines throughout delivery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • 6 months – 1 year of commercial driving experience.
  • Foodservice distribution industry experience.
  • Experience with onboard computer/electronic log systems (e.g., PeopleNet) and hand-held point-of-delivery scanning systems (e.g., POD).
  • Customer service-related work experience.
  • Meet all state licensing/certification requirements (where applicable).
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Meets PFG Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) requirements for the past 3 years.
  • Pass pre-employment drug test and PFG FMCSA Clearinghouse requirements.
  • Pass road test.
  • Able to secure a new DOT Medical Card.
  • Able to hand-lift and use equipment (two-wheeler, lift gate, etc.) to move/stack product cases/freight (60–90 lbs) throughout shift.
  • Ability to work the assigned schedule required for the position.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English; English proficiency is required.

Pay

Average pay: $90,000 – $100,000 annually.

Sign-on bonus: $10,000 (terms apply; ineligible if employed by a Performance Food Group-owned company within the last 24 months).

Schedule

4–5 days per week; start times between 11 PM – 3 AM. Routes include regional (1–3 day layover).
