About the Role
As a HIMS Technician, you will compile, process, and maintain patient records in a manner consistent with healthcare requirements and standards. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while aligning with a rapidly growing national inpatient rehabilitation leader.
Responsibilities
- Maintains delinquent records at less than 50% of the average discharge rate.
- Monitors staff deficiencies and assures that all IRF-PAI data elements are completed.
- Completes physician and staff deficiency checklist.
- Performs final check of medical records before designating records complete.
- Abstracts discharge date for PATCOM system for all discharged inpatients.
- Accurately completes data entry of all PATCOM HIMS data.
- Monitors and corrects errors on daily exception reports.
Qualifications
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Graduate of accredited college or university.
- Medical Record Technology College or vocational school preferred.
- Minimum three years of hospital HIMS experience preferred in lieu of certification.
- Knowledge of medical terminology required.
- One year data entry experience preferred.
