Responsibilities

  • Aids patients with birth registration and paternity processes by collecting and verifying required patient information.
  • Enters birth data into the electronic State of Arizona Birth Reporting System.
  • Prioritizes work and ensures 100% submission of HonorHealth patient births and fetal deaths.
  • Collaborates with Patient Registration and other departments to determine correct medical record merges.
  • Maintains the integrity of the master patient index (MPI), including merging, unmerging, and overlaying records.
  • Facilitates synchronization of the MPI with other indices throughout the organization.
  • Distributes chart deficiency and suspension information to relevant parties, including reminders, pending suspension notices, and fine notification letters.
  • Maintains the physician suspension process, including monitoring, tracking, and reporting physician deficiencies in the HonorHealth electronic medical record system.
  • Participates in department activities and safety initiatives.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree - Preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED - Required
  • 2 years experience in master patient index maintenance, records analysis, or medical records processing.
  • 3 years experience in master patient index maintenance, records analysis, or medical records processing.
  • Basic understanding and use of computers, telephones, fax, copy machines, and data entry into computer programs.
  • Excellent communication skills with physicians.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations relative to birth registration and the confidentiality and security of patient health information.
  • Experience in a role utilizing excellent communication and analytical skills.

Qualifications

Responsible for completing and submitting Arizona State required information for birth certificates, fetal death certificates, paternity affidavits, and other required documentation related to birth certificates.

Coordinates suspension protocol with Medical Staff Services, maintains the integrity of the master patient index, merges, unmerges, and overlays the MPI, and facilitates synchronization with other indices throughout the organization.
