HIM Tech I

Responsibilities

• Secures and maintains the patient’s health record upon discharge from the hospital.
• Verifies and ensures receipt of all patient records, and assembles the documentation into the legal medical record.
• Pulls medical records for authorized requests, and files them in terminal-digit order, while maintaining the chart tracking system and ensuring ease of retrieval.
• Reviews medical staff documentation in the Emergency Room record to verify the completeness of the documentation, and assigns any deficiencies to the responsible medical staff member for completion.
• Answers telephone calls and assists visitors (including but not limited to physicians, patients and their family members), while maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Experience with accurate alphabetic and numeric filing (preferred).
• One year hospital experience (preferred).
• Knowledge of terminal digit filing and medical terminology (preferred).
• Computer data entry with 10-key, with accurate typing speed of 35 wpm (preferred).
• A High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
• Completion of a medical terminology course (preferred).
• A background in business and office training (preferred).

• Reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $16.60 to $23.19.

Resurrection Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package that provides employees the flexibility to tailor benefits according to their individual needs. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
