HIM Specialist

Responsibilities

• Provides operational support and performs duties in various functions such as document imaging, chart collection, birth certificate processing, deficiency analysis, physician suspension, and release of information.
• Performs chart certification process including notarizing the affidavit letter and works with the ROI vendor to ensure certifications are accurate.
• Identifies and communicates errors in chart certifications to the ROI vendor.
• Performs monthly quality reviews in assigned area and provides education to associates and results to HIM leadership.
• Analyzes data and workflows in HIM functional areas to identify potential standardization/procedural flaws, recommending solutions and training needed to prevent errors or omissions.
• Demonstrates initiative to identify problems and review related information to develop or evaluate options and recommend solutions.
• Works both independently and collaboratively with others in a professional manner within and externally to the department with minimal supervision/guidance.
• Cross-trains HIM associates as part of onboarding or for the purpose of providing backup.
• Provides guidance and direction related to ROI policy and continuously educates staff on the importance of confidentiality guidelines for ROI.
• Distributes workload to staff daily to assure targets are consistently met.
• Leadership on projects and assigned tasks.
• Responds to problems or questions from internal and external customers, including HIM associates, clinicians, and physicians.

Qualifications

• High School or GED
