This position supports the Release of Information process, including managing audits and denials, while assisting the HIM Manager and HIM Coordinator to improve efficiency, tracking, and monitoring within the Revenue Cycle. Strong organizational and computer skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset are essential. Responsibilities
- Assists with mail processing.
- Tracks and monitors denial/audit release requests from billing, denials, and coding teams across mail, email, and fax.
- Prepares appeals, including mailing, faxing, and uploading to provider portals.
- Submits and monitors medical record requests for specific payor requirements (e.g., Predictive Modeling) to ensure timely responses.
- Adheres to HIPAA and Covenant Values while demonstrating excellent customer service.
- Works with spreadsheets, graphs, Microsoft Office, and other documents.
- Participates in Process Improvement activities and the Denials Audit Committee, including compiling analytics and providing feedback.
- Collaborates with outside vendors, payer contacts, and others to improve processes.
- Completes additional projects or tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate degree required; RHIA/RHIT or eligibility for accreditation preferred.
- Medical terminology required.
- Knowledge of healthcare, HIM, Coding, and Epic strongly desired.
- Experience in a healthcare setting preferred, with preference given to those with acute care medical record experience.
- Positive and enthusiastic attitude in all interactions.
