About the Role
This is a 2nd shift position. The Sanitation Operator is responsible for maintaining clean and orderly conditions in production and administrative areas as assigned by leadership, prioritizing safety and adhering to established GMP, safety, regulatory, and company procedures and policies.
Responsibilities
- Support the plant's food safety culture and comply with all food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Clean and sanitize assigned areas by following SSOPs.
- Protect, cover, or remove boxes, materials, or equipment that may be affected by the sanitation process.
- Collect and properly dispose of major dirt and/or product left over on production floors or pans.
- Clean and prewash heavy oil, grease, and visible dirt from machines, overhead pipes, and conveyors.
- Wash walls and ceilings.
- Transport trash and waste to proper disposal areas.
- Operate pumps to force cleaning solution through production machinery, piping, or vats.
- Clean, sanitize, disassemble, and assemble equipment according to company procedures.
- Clean processing equipment, overhead pipes, and conveyors.
- Scrub processing tanks, vats, and kettles.
- Clean floors using mops and/or electrical scrubbers.
- Operate industrial trucks to transport materials within the plant.
- Use cleaning chemicals according to OSHA guidelines.
- Complete all required documentation for procedures performed.
- Perform other cleaning duties of a similar nature as assigned by a supervisor or manager.
- Direct other plant personnel assisting in the sanitation process.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Previous relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment or commercial cleaning.
- Experience reading and understanding MSDS (Materials Safety Data Sheets).
- Minimum of 6 months of experience in a Sanitation role.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and short memos.
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions.
- Bilingual ability is a plus.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb stairs, lift, bend, kneel, and stand for long periods.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
