Highway Section Head

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• Cook up a strategic growth plan with office managers and practice leaders
• Establish and expand market presence in your area via marketing and business development
• Manage the department's financial budget and allocate resources
• Lead and contribute to proposal writing
• Act as a technical advisor to less experienced engineers
• Manage and hire staff for the section
• Coordinate work-sharing within the region and between regions

Nonessential Functions And Responsibilities

• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Proficient in Microsoft Projects for Project Schedule development
• Proficient in OpenRoads and/or MicroStation

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited program
• Professional Engineer License
• 10+ years’ experience in specialized discipline
• Project management and business development experience
• Successfully work and manage multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced team-oriented environment
• Able to manage, mentor, and provide guidance and direction to staff
• Thorough understanding of the KYDOT design standards, policies, specifications, Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) process and plan preparation

Qualifications

• Preferred experience collaborating with local clients at the county and state level
• KYDOT and municipal experience preferred
• Supervisory experience and leading a multidiscipline team preferred
