About This Role

This position offers the flexibility to work in Chattanooga, Knoxville, or Nashville, TN, with required travel to the Knoxville office. Join our Transportation team and contribute to projects that improve long-term mobility for people and goods, shaping the future of transportation infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Work on innovative roadway design projects, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Collaborate with technical specialists in roads, bridges, structures, traffic engineering, intelligent transportation systems, public transit, and more.
  • Review draft designs to ensure alignment with regulatory standards and firm policies, updating requirements as needed.
  • Conduct site reviews and inspections of transportation structures to guarantee construction quality.
  • Work with sales staff to develop proposals tailored to current and potential clients, fostering strong relationships.
  • Attend industry conferences and symposia to stay current on trends and innovations while mentoring junior staff.

Skills & Abilities

  • Expert knowledge of computer-assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
  • Expert knowledge of engineering principles of design.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of design standards (AASHTO, NACTO, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent additional directly related experience).
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • 10 years of related experience.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required (10% or less).

Pay

Pay range: $105,227 – $184,142 USD. Compensation is determined by factors including role, experience, skills, certifications, education, and geographic location. Bonuses are discretionary and may apply.
