About the Role

Join CDM Smith’s Transportation team in North Carolina and contribute to innovative roadway and bridge projects that enhance mobility, safety, and efficiency. Responsibilities

• Develop and refine roadway and transportation designs in compliance with federal, state, and local standards.
• Participate in site reviews and inspections to ensure high-quality construction and project execution.
• Collaborate with experts in roads, bridges, traffic engineering, ITS, and transit while mentoring junior staff.
• Contribute to proposals and help build strong client relationships.
• Expand your expertise through ongoing professional development, conferences, and industry engagement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam (within 18 months of hire or promotion/transfer in states where EIT is not obtainable).
• 5 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required (up to 10% or less).
• Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Skills

• Expert knowledge of computer-assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
• Expert knowledge of engineering principles of design.
• Proficiency in Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
• Basic knowledge of design standards (AASHTO, NACTO, etc.).

Pay

The estimated pay range for this role is USD $91,478.00 to $160,118.00. Compensation is determined by factors such as geographic location, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and education/training. Bonuses are discretionary and may not apply to this position.
