Highway Maintenance Worker II- Medium Equipment Operator (61036926)

Job Responsibilities

• Operates a tandem dump truck for hauling materials.
• Works with a maintenance crew performing ditch and shoulder work.
• Cleans pipes and ditches, including cleaning pipe ends, removing and replacing mailboxes, posts, and highway signs.
• Flags traffic during road repairs to control flow of traffic, protect equipment, workers, and general public.
• Affixes to supervisor in traffic control setup.
• Operates a chain saw in cutting trees on right-of-way.
• Assists with inclement weather and after-hour emergencies.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

• Six (6) months of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Physical Demands

• Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Walking for extended periods.
• Treading rough terrain.
• Working in close proximity to motoring traffic.
• Working in natural environmental hazards.
• May be required to work outside normal scheduled work week; especially during inclement weather.
