Highway Maintenance Worker II - Medium Equipment Operator (61036896)

About the Role

This position involves operating motorized equipment such as front-end loaders and belt loaders, working with a maintenance crew on shoulders and ditches, cleaning pipes and ditches, and hauling materials, supplies, and debris using a tandem dump truck. The role also includes assisting during inclement weather and after-hour emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Operate motorized equipment such as front-end loaders and belt loaders.
• Work with a maintenance crew on shoulders and ditches, cleaning pipes and ditches.
• Clean pipe ends, remove and replace mailboxes, posts, and highway signs.
• Operate a tandem dump truck for hauling materials, supplies, and debris.
• Use proper safety equipment and tools to complete tasks.
• Assist during inclement weather and after-hour emergencies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Six (6) months of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• Must attain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement.

Physical Demands

• Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping, and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Walking for extended periods and treading rough, uneven terrain.
• Working in close proximity to motoring traffic and natural environmental hazards.
• Exposure to outside environment in all weather conditions, noise, and oil or grease on a daily basis.
