Job Responsibilities
- Operates a tandem dump truck, hauling materials, supplies and equipment to and from job sites.
- Performs duties using manual labor during roadway and right of way maintenance activities, including repairs to shoulders, putting ditch back to grade, removing debris from highways.
- Operates front-end loader, backhoe and motor grader in various maintenance activities.
- Uses power tools and hand tools to perform assigned maintenance activities.
- Flags traffic in low/high volume areas to control flow of traffic for protection of workers, equipment and general public.
- Cleans up litter, debris and dead animals from roadways.
- Assists in after-hour emergencies and inclement weather operations; may include being available for extended hours or 12-hour shifts.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
- Six (6) months of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
- A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
- Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
Necessary Special Requirement
- The physical demands for the essential functions involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards.
- May be required to work outside normal scheduled work week; especially during inclement weather.
