About the role
The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a Highway Maintenance Supervisor to join our maintenance team based in Meeteetse, Wyoming. Responsibilities
- Lead a crew of 5 employees to ensure adequate services are provided along with the safest conditions for the traveling public.
- Oversee and perform all maintenance tasks.
- Observe, verify, and document the work activities of the team.
- Plan, assign, and supervise the work of the team daily.
- Communicate project information and proposed courses of action and/or subsequent consequences.
- Complete performance evaluations for their team members.
- Make and record daily weather observations.
- Complete budgeting, resource management, and scheduling for the department.
- Operate single and tandem-axle trucks, equipped with an auger, aerial lift equipment, front plow, wing plow, sander, and chemical systems to remove snow and ice from roadway surfaces.
- Responsible for the rehabilitation of roadway surfaces and traffic control devices.
- Attend and complete all required training to obtain or maintain required certifications, perform inspections, and learn new skills.
- Utilize special computerized equipment.
- Operate front-end loaders, plow trucks, rotary plows, and other heavy equipment to assist with snow removal.
- Provide leadership, coordinate all maintenance activities, and give direction to subordinates performing snow removal operations.

- Prepare long-range and yearly work plans for assigned road sections.
Requirements
- Must have the ability to obtain water certifications if necessary.
- Must have the ability to obtain a Certification to operate specified equipment as directed by WYDOT.
- Must have the ability to obtain a Certificate of course completion of Defensive Driving.
- Must have the ability to obtain a First Aid/CPR certification.
- Must have the ability to obtain a Flagger certification.
Qualifications
- Prior WYDOT Maintenance experience and/or Management experience preferred.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree (typically in Management).
- Experience: 0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Highway Maintenance/Highway Construction) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Highway Maintenance Specialist.
Skills
- Knowledge of purchasing procedures.
- Knowledge of long-range planning.
- Knowledge of as-constructed plans.
- Knowledge of monetary limitations and proper procedures to initiate payments.
- Knowledge of specifications, standard plans, policies and procedures, rules, regulations, and traffic control standards.
- Ability to meet weekly deadlines for reports/paperwork, ensuring accuracy.
- Knowledge of computer systems, work reporting procedures and requirements, and maintenance management practices specific to WYDOT.
- Knowledge of Federal and State requirements for proper use of personal protective equipment and safety standards.
- Knowledge of Safe Work Procedures, First Aid, CPR, and Safety Data Sheets for chemicals used in completing tasks.
- Knowledge of Hazardous Materials Response Procedures.
- Knowledge of highway equipment and operations.

Pay
Salary range: $55,000 - $70,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
Schedule
Full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
