Highway Maintenance Specialist (CDL Required)- Golden

Total annual compensation for this position is $65,940 ($53,940 base pay and $12,000 housing stipend). Base pay is $2,074.62 biweekly ($53,940 annually) across 26 biweekly pay periods. This location is also eligible for an additional $1,000/month housing stipend. The annualized hourly rate is $25.93/hour, with an overtime rate of $38.90/hour.

Responsibilities
- Plowing snow
- Operating heavy equipment (e.g., tandem dump truck, loader, tractor mower)
- Mowing grass and weeds
- Removing debris from roadways (e.g., rock, mud, deceased animals)
- Removing debris from culverts, tunnels, etc.
- Shoveling gravel, sand, concrete, and asphalt
- Digging ditches
- Installing and repairing guardrail, highway markers, signs, warning signs, and lighting
- Filling potholes and roadway cracks
- Setting out signs and cones for traffic control
- Removing and covering graffiti
- Installing pavement markings/striping
- Stopping or slowing traffic in emergency situations
- Maintaining equipment and performing minor repairs
- Following safety guidance and wearing proper safety equipment
- On-call duties on a rotating basis and responding to weather/emergencies

Work Environment
- Exposure to loud noise, fumes, odors, gasses, dust, and chemicals
- Required use of personal protective equipment
- Work near traffic, including high-speed traffic
- Use of ladders and scissor lifts (heights of 10’–20’)
- Driving CDOT vehicles
- Frequent emergency response outside regular hours, including weekends and holidays
- Physically demanding work in extreme temperatures, variable weather, and elevations up to 12,000 feet
Requirements
- At least two (2) years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B with no air brake restrictions, allowing operation in Colorado
- Non-Colorado CDL holders must be eligible to drive in Colorado at time of hire and transfer their CDL within 30 days of relocating to Colorado
- Pass pre-employment screening (criminal records, driving records, educational records, etc.)
- Pass controlled substance test (drug test) and DOT physical
- On-call availability (rotating basis and emergency response)
- Essential Services Designation: Must report without delay for emergencies
- Must live within thirty (30) minutes' driving time of the workstation to respond timely to emergencies
- Complete two weeks of maintenance training (new employees) or one week annually (veteran employees)
- May be required to obtain a Hazardous Materials endorsement within 6–12 months
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
