Higher Education Project Manager-Owner's Rep

About the role

Colliers Project Leaders is seeking a dynamic and driven Project Manager to join our team in Storrs, CT. We have a continually growing portfolio of large-scale capital projects serving both public and private clients in multiple sectors in the Connecticut market. Our ideal candidates have an architecture, engineering, or construction background, the desire to lead successful projects, and the ability to help our clients improve their built environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage one or more concurrent construction projects from start to finish—on time and on budget.
• Build strong, trusting client relationships and bring the right people together to develop innovative ideas and solutions.
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the project management process and roles of each team member, including architects, engineers, and other consultants.
• Manage all project dynamics to ensure clients’ goals and objectives are met within financial and schedule parameters for multiple stakeholders.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate issues related to scheduling, logistics, sequencing, cost, quality, and progress, as well as negotiate claims and change orders.
• Review and evaluate project-related materials such as project descriptions, drawings, specifications, budgets, schedules, contracts, and proposals for services.
• Review construction documents regularly for conformance to project goals, value engineering, and constructability.
• Develop project-related documents such as monthly reports, budgets, schedules, presentations, minutes, and insurance tracking logs.
• Review documents prepared by internal team members for accuracy and reporting purposes.
• Oversee and manage staff with respect to deliverables, performance, and project commitments.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in architecture, construction management, or a related field.
• 5–10 years of experience with an architectural or engineering bachelor’s degree highly preferred; construction management degrees (or similar) will also be considered.
• Prior experience with K-12 schools and/or higher education in CT preferred.
• Knowledge of permitting and zoning laws.
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, project management models, financial management, building codes, contract law, and relevant legislation.
• Demonstrated knowledge of client relations, design, construction, and FF&E processes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage various tasks, schedules, and deliverables.
• Enthusiasm to promote and drive project implementation.
• Professionally recognized designations are considered a strong asset.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English for job-related communications and interactions.
