About the role
As an Interconnection Project Manager at Rosendin, you will oversee project interconnections from a technical engineering perspective to ensure compliance with project requirements, IEEE/ANSI standards, applicable codes, and the scope of work. You will manage subcontracted design work, review contracts, assist in utility coordination, and represent Rosendin in client and utility-facing meetings.
This role requires knowledge of HV electrical engineering and SCADA interfaces, including the ability to review and comment on:
- Interconnection requirements and compliance, especially in ERCOT territory
- HV Transmission and Substation SLD/Layouts
- SCADA design and its coordination with utilities
Responsibilities
- Select, scope, and oversee subcontractors assigned to your projects, supervising design groups of 1-4 subcontractors per project and potentially managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Review contracts to identify potential pitfalls or highlight Rosendin’s obligations to utilities.
- Assist Rosendin Project Management in incorporating utility agreement obligations into project designs.
- Support utility requirements for energization and assist in performance obligations leading up to Project COD.
- Apply knowledge of SCADA architecture and communication block diagrams to assist in preliminary scope and design intent communication with utilities.
- Demonstrate familiarity with metering concepts and SCADA points lists for information exchange with utilities.
- Use basic AutoCAD and Excel skills to develop conceptual SLDs, layouts, and transmission line designs with minimal support.
- Perform quality assurance back-checks on design packages assembled by subcontractors.
- Assist the closeout team with review and markup of contract documents prior to contract award.
- Regularly represent Rosendin in client-facing and utility-facing calls and meetings.
- Assist in marketing the firm.
Requirements
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, with designs lasting 3-6 months and supporting estimating with bid packages.
- Fluency with remote productivity software such as Box, Cisco, and GoTo Meeting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with employees at all levels, vendors, clients, and others.
- Travel to Anaheim, CA, for coordination with HV engineers and to project sites as needed.
Qualifications
- A four-year degree from an accredited university or college in engineering or construction sciences.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in construction of renewable HV Substation and Transmission Projects.
- Ability to assume responsibility, interface, and coordinate with others, as well as analyze and resolve complex problems.
- Combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
Working Conditions
- General office environment: sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending.
- Work is primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions (e.g., fluorescent lighting, air conditioning).
- Noise levels are usually low to medium but can be loud on jobsites.
- Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
